By Rufiz Hafizoglu - Trend:

Turkish Petroleum Corporation (TPAO) is interested in exploring hydrocarbons in Iran if the sanctions imposed on this country are lifted, TPAO told Trend.

Earlier, TPAO and Tehran were holding talks on the implementation of a number of projects, but the talks were suspended due to Iran 's position, said the corporation.

"If the Iranian side gives opportunities to TPAO to work in this country, the corporation is ready to start the exploration of hydrocarbons," said TPAO. However, TPAO didn't specify the essence of the disagreements between the sides.

Earlier, Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resource Taner Yildiz said that Ankara intends to cooperate with Iran in the sphere of hydrocarbon exploration.

Iran and P5 +1 (the US, UK, France, Russia, China and Germany) reached a historic agreement on Iran 's nuclear program July 14.

The negotiations ended with adoption of a joint comprehensive action plan. If Iran carries out this plan, the economic and financial sanctions earlier imposed on it by the UN Security Council, the US and EU will be lifted.
