BP decreases volume of associated gas delivery to Azerbaijan

In Jan.-Sept. 2016, BP delivered 1.97 billion cubic meters of associated gas to Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR versus 2.7 billion cubic meters in the same period of 2015, the BP report for the three quarters of 2016 said Nov. 18.

BP is the operator of the Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli (ACG) block of oil and gas fields in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea.

SOCAR gets the associated gas for free within the ACG block’s development.

The average daily volume of the associated gas transferred to SOCAR for the three quarters of 2016 amounted to 7.2 million cubic meters, according to the report.

BP delivered 3.2 billion cubic meters of associated gas to SOCAR in 2015.

The contract for developing the ACG field was signed in 1994. The proven oil reserve of the block nears 1 billion tons.

The shareholders of the project are: BP - 35.8 percent, Chevron - 11.3 percent, Inpex - 11 percent, AzACG - 11.6 percent, Statoil - 8.6 percent, Exxon - 8 percent, TPAO - 6.8 percent, Itocu - 4.3 percent and ONGC - 2.7 percent.
