Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR plans to build six platforms by 2025 for drilling 27 deep wells at the Bulla Deniz offshore gas field in the Caspian Sea, Dashgin Iskenderov, director general of SOCAR’s Azneft Production Union, said in an interview with the Caspian Energy journal.
Drilling of the exploration well #78, with a projected depth of 5,900 meters, is now ongoing at Bulla Deniz, according to him.
Iskenderov noted that the parameters of the Bulla Deniz field, performance of the wells and the volume of the remaining hydrocarbon reserves allow increasing production by several times.
“Therefore, the field development program was re-developed. Under this program, it is planned to build six platforms and from them to drill 27 deep wells by 2025. Two wells have already been drilled and commissioned. Drilling of two more continues,” he said.
Iskenderov added that after all the drilling operations are completed, it will be possible to increase the daily oil and gas production from the Bulla Deniz field, which will compensate the decline in production at other fields.
Operation of the Bulla Deniz field started in 1975. More than 62 billion cubic meters of gas and 12 million tons of oil and gas condensate have been produced at the field since then.
Azneft Production Union is an oil and gas producing enterprise of Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR. The enterprise operates at 13 offshore and 14 onshore oil and gas fields.
