Kazakhstan intends to expand the export of transformers to Turkmenistan, the press service of Kazakh Invest said in a message.

Turkmenistan currently experiences lack of transformers and other equipment, which is of great demand for its large oil and gas industry, and the representatives of Kazakh companies, participating in the “Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan” exhibition, held in Turkmenista, offered to increase the supply of such equipment.

“Turkmenistan is one of the most attractive markets in Central Asia due to the lack of its domestic producers of transformer equipment. After a three-year break, we started the export of transformers to Turkmenistan, but the volume is still low and we aim at the resumption of the previous volume, which used to reached $1 million per year,” said Eldar Bekmuratov the Export Manager of Alageum Electric.

Previously, the countries also signed a contract on the supply of suction booms, worth $2 million.

Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan have large prospects for cooperation in the fuel and energy sector. In 2016, the trade turnover between the two countries amounted to $283.5 million. A large share of Turkmen products exported to Kazakhstan accounts for natural gas, oil products and sea vessels. Kazakhstan, in turn, exports flour, iron rods, malt extract, trucks, tobacco products to Turkmenistan.
