As the BP planned activity will be in shallow waters of the Caspian Sea, they may require a jack-up rig to drill wells offshore Azerbaijan, but they also have other options, Trend learned from Eurasia Drilling Company.
Earlier, it was reported that BP is said to be eyeing a Eurasia Drilling Company jack-up rig for its first probe in a shallow-water area of the Caspian Sea off Azerbaijan.
“One of our jack-up rigs is currently in a shipyard in Azerbaijan undergoing maintenance and is currently being marketing to clients across the Caspian for work post maintenance,” said the company.
“Eurasia Drilling Company has 4 jack-up rigs in the Caspian and we have extensive experience of drilling in the Russian, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan sectors of the Caspian Sea,” the company said.
