Flare gas will not be burnt on the Kharg island in Iran’s southern Bushehr province after the implementation of the project by next week, Executive Director of Iran's Kharg Petrochemical Company Gholamreza Amir Shaghaghi said.

Shaghaghi made the remark in Iran during the meeting with Iranian Oil Minister Behzad Mohammadi at the Kharg Petrochemical Company, Trend reports referring to Shana news agency.

The executive director added that the bridge between the Forouzan oil field and its platform is being constructed and the length of the bridge is 86 meters.

Shaghaghi said that after the completion of all operations, daily burning of 6.2 million cubic meters (220 million cubic feet) will be prevented.

The executive director added that gas obtained as a result of oil extraction is supplied to the plant of the Kharg petrochemical company as fuel.

"All the products of the Kharg petrochemical company (1.1 million tons) are exported through its own platform," Shaghaghi said.

The executive director said that there is a 30-percent-progress in the construction of Methanol 2 facility at the Kharg petrochemical company.

"The company has four storage facilities with a total capacity of 240,000 tons and it is Iran's biggest methanol storage facility," Shaghaghi said.
