Azerbaijan almost doubles 2020 gas exports via TANAP

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Feb. 8

Azerbaijan exported 11.1 billion cubic meters of gas via the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum (BTE) pipeline in 2020, which is 20 percent more compared to 2019, Trend reports citing a report of the country’s State Statistical Committee.

According to the committee, 4.7 billion cubic meters of the total volume of Azerbaijani gas exported to Turkey in 2020 were transported through Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP), and which is 1.7 times more compared to 2019.

Export of natural gas from Azerbaijan via the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum pipeline to Europe amounted to 10 million cubic meters, to Georgia - 1.1 billion cubic meters, the report reads.

Last year, the volume of transported gas produced at the Shah Deniz gas condensate field in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea through the BTE pipeline amounted to 900 million cubic meters, and by SOCAR - 300 million cubic meters.

The length of the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum pipeline is over 700 kilometers. This gas pipeline transports gas produced at the Shah Daniz gas condensate field in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea. Azerbaijani gas is supplied by pipeline to Georgia and Turkey.
