TEHRAN, Iran. Nov. 6
Trend:
Iran is seeking to finance for import of turbines for wind power plants, said the member of Iran Renewable Energy Association Mohammad Amin Zangeneh, Trend reports citing ILNA.
The capital costs are very high for investment in solar, wind or thermal power plants therefore there should be more access to big financial resources, Amin Zangeneh noted.
Chinese companies are not directly exporting renewable energy technology to Iran and the country has to order them via the UAE that increases costs.
Iran's power industry currently is financed by bank loans that are assigned to projects with minimum 10 megawatt electricity, hence there is a need for foreign investor or financing by the National Development Fund of Iran.
The country currently manufactures about 40 percent of equipment used for solar, wind power plants, while importing the rest. Iran mostly imports solar panels from China, the country previously used to import wind turbine from Germany and Denmark.
