Coal prices on global markets to continue to rise in 2022 - Wood Mackenzie

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Dec. 21

By Khagan Isayev - Trend:

Coal prices on the world markets will continue to rise in 2022 due to a long-term climate policy, Trend reports citing the Wood Mackenzie leading research and consultancy business for the global energy, chemicals, metals and mining industries.

“The governments of the countries will continue to raise existing carbon taxes and introduce new ones to support their decarbonization commitments,” the company said.

“The intense spread of the new Omicron COVID variant has dashed hope for the sustained progress,” the company said. “However, as this year has shown, most of the fundamental trends, shaping energy and industry, remain resilient even amid a global crisis.”

Wood Mackenzie started life in 1923 as an Edinburgh-based stockbroker. By the 1970s, Wood Mackenzie had become one of the top three stockbrokers in the UK, renowned for the quality of its equity research.
