Georgia’s electricity imports from Azerbaijan in January 2022 amounted to $3.7 million, which is a decrease of 47.1 percent, compared to $7 million over the same period of 2021, Trend reports via the National Statistics Office (Geostat).
The same figure also decreased by 13.9 percent, compared to $4.3 million worth of electricity in December 2021, and by 7.5 percent, compared to $4 million in January 2020.
Meanwhile, electricity ranked third in the total group of commodities exported to Georgia from Azerbaijan in January 2022, following after petroleum gases ($51.4 million), and petroleum oils ($11.7 million).
Georgia’s total imports from Azerbaijan in the reporting period of 2022 amounted to $75.1 million, which is an increase of 45.8 percent compared to January 2021 ($51.5 million). Thus, Azerbaijan ranked 3-rd among Georgia’s top trading partners by imports in January 2022, Geostat said.
Georgia’s total trade turnover with Azerbaijan in January 2022 amounted to $121.9 million – an 11-percent share in the total foreign trade turnover.
