Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan boosts oil transportation

BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 14. The volume of transit oil transportation via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline stood at 3.013 million tons from January through August 2022, versus 2.214 million tons in the same period in 2021, Trend reports with reference to Azerbaijan’s State Statistical Committee.

As such BTC’s transit oil transportation grew by more than 36.08 percent year-on-year.

The total length of the BTC oil pipeline is 1,768 kilometers, of which 443 kilometers run through the territory of Azerbaijan, 249 kilometers - through the territory of Georgia, and 1,076 kilometers - through the territory of Türkiye. Construction of the pipeline began in April 2003, and its filling with oil began on May 18, 2005.

BTC Co. shareholders are: bp (30.1 percent), SOCAR (25 percent), MOL (8.9 percent), Equinor (8.71 percent), TPAO (6.53 percent), Eni (5 percent), TotalEnergies (5 percent), ITOCHU (3.4 percent), INPEX (2.5 percent), ExxonMobil (2.5 percent) and ONGCVidesh (2.36 percent).
