BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 24. Croatia's import of crude oil and petroleum products from Azerbaijan has witnessed a significant upswing in 2023, reaching a total of 898,142 metric tons from January to August, Eurostat, the European Union's statistical office, told Trend.
The total value of these imports during this period amounted to a substantial 523.7 million euros.
In August 2023, Azerbaijan further bolstered its supply to Croatia, providing 259,532 metric tons of crude oil and petroleum products. This marked a remarkable 38.8 percent increase compared to the 187,049 metric tons delivered in July.
Croatia's spending on these imports from Azerbaijan during August reached 158.8 million euros, reflecting a notable surge of 51.5 percent from the 104.8 million euros expended in July.
Oil from Azerbaijan is transported to neighboring countries and global markets through three major pipelines: Baku-Novorossiysk, Baku-Supsa, and Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC). Currently, transportation via the Baku-Supsa pipeline is temporarily suspended.
In addition, oil is exported by rail to the Georgian terminals in Batumi and Kulevi.
