Azerbaijan Likely to Increase Gas Export to   Georgia

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr S. Aliyev / Export of Azerbaijani gas produced in Shah Daniz field to Georgia can be increased. An increase of gas supplied to Georgia was discussed at a meeting between the Georgian Energy Minister and Azerbaijani Industry and Energy Minister, Azerbaijani Minister Natig Aliyev, reported on 14 June. The import is likely to be increased up to 2.5mln cu m/ 24h.

Georgia is receiving gas from the fields owned by the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) and from Shah Deniz field of the Azerbaijan Gas Supply Company.

Gas from Shah Deniz is supplied to Georgia in the amount of 1mln cu m at the price of $63/th cu m. SOCAR holds an agreement of providing Georgia's gas supply in June in the amount of 40-41mln cu m at $120/th cu m.

Some 8.6bln cu m of gas is planned to be produced in the plateau stage within the framework of Phase-1 of the project on the development of the Shah Deniz field. Some 5.7bln cu m of gas will be produced in the field in 2007, with 2.7bln going to Azerbaijan.
