Wine export from Georgia increases by 10%

Georgia exported about 65.2 million bottles (0.75 liters) of wine to 50 countries from January to September 2019, which is 10 percent more than in the same period in 2018, Trend reports with reference to the Georgian National Wine Agency.

The value of exported wine reaches $164 million, which is 16 percent more than in the same period of 2018.

Wine exports to the US increased by 60 percent (533,206 bottles), to the UK - by 40 percent (93,067 bottles), to Poland – by 18 percent (2.90 million bottles) and to China – by 11 percent (5.33 million bottles).

Export growth dynamics are also observed as follows: Lithuania - by 52 percent (503,832 bottles), Germany - by 36 percent (476,145 bottles), Belarus - by 35 percent (1.60 million bottles), Israel - by 88 percent (218,921 bottles), Estonia - by 19 percent (499,736 bottles), Russia - by 11 percent (41.11 million bottles), the Netherlands - by 21 percent (73,078 bottles), Czech Republic - by 10 percent (62,700 bottles), Sweden - by 39 percent (55,506 bottles), Bulgaria - by 51 percent (24,228 bottles), Australia - by 15 percent (19,636 bottles), Canada - by 2 percent (121,650 bottles), and Mongolia - by 13 percent (184,212 bottles).

Top ten exporting countries include Russia (41.11 million bottles), Ukraine (6.76 million bottles), China (5.33 million bottles), Poland (2.90 million bottles), Kazakhstan (2.47 million bottles), Belarus (1 million bottles), Latvia (988,122 bottles), US (533,206 bottles), Lithuania (503,832 bottles) and Estonia (499,736 bottles).

According to data for nine months, 289 Georgian companies exported wine from the country.
