BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 13
Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:
Georgia has attracted $2.1 billion worth of foreign aid (within 2020 and up until now), said the country's finance minister Lasha Khutsishvili, Trend reports citing Georgian media.
He made the remark commenting on the agreement reached between the country's finance ministry and international donors.
The head of the department noted that the mobilization of aid will be carried out as soon as possible.
"We met the COVID-19 pandemic with a large number of buffers that made it easier for us to respond. We had a very successful program with the International Monetary Fund, we had a very high level of trust from international financial institutions, and we had a lot of experience in implementing reforms. All this predetermined the success in negotiations with donors," said the head of the Ministry of Finance.
According to him, support from international organizations helped Georgia to organize effective measures against the pandemic and maintain macroeconomic stability.
