Azerbaijan sees growth in total bank deposits

The Azerbaijani population's total bank deposits made up over 8.6 billion manat ($5.05 billion) as of early June 2021, Trend reports referring to the statistics report of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA).

According to the CBA, this is by 12.7 percent or 973.8 million manat ($572.8 million) more compared to early June 2020.

About 10.9 percent of all bank deposits in the country accounted for districts, the CBA report said.

Around 55 percent or 4.7 billion manat ($2.8 billion) of the population’s bank deposits accounted for the national currency, the report reads.

The total volume of deposits reached 7.7 billion manat ($4.5 billion) in Baku, of which 3.9 billion ($2.3 billion) - in national currency (50.1 percent).

At the same time, the average annual deposit rate throughout the country as of early June 2021 amounted to 3.19 percent, and in Baku – 3.07 percent.
