Iran issues licenses on mining exploration in Ardabil Province

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Aug. 26

Iran issued 12 licenses on mining exploration in Ardabil (north-western Iran) during the first five months of the current Iranian year (from March 21 through August 22, 2021), Chairman of Industry, Mine and Trade Organization of Ardabil Province Ramin Sadeghi said, Trend reports citing the organization.

In addition, 4 more licenses on mining exploration are being prepared, according to Sadeghi.

He added that preliminary exploration operations have been completed on an area of 7,500 square kilometers. Also, the operations have been launched in 16 points.

The chairman noted that as a result of exploration operations, the mines, which have more than 153 million tons of mineral resources, were discovered. These minerals are copper, molybdenum and gold.

Sadeghi emphasized that there are currently 212 mining enterprises in Ardabil Province. More than 3 trillion rials (about $71.4 million) has been spent on these mines. The mineral reserves of the mines are 450 million tons.

The organization official said that the activities of 20 mines in the province have been restored over the past year.
