ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, September 13. The total volume of deposits attracted by banks in Turkmenistan in the national currency from January through June 2023 amounted to 111.77 billion Turkmen manat ($31.9 billion), of which 27.54 billion Turkmen manat ($7.86 billion) were issued only in June, Trend reports.
According to the Central Bank of Turkmenistan, of the total volume of attracted deposits, bank deposits of legal entities for the first six months of this year amounted to 90.28 billion Turkmen manat ($25.76 billion).
Furthermore, bank deposits of individuals in the first six months of 2023 amounted to 20.35 billion Turkmen manats ($5.8 billion), which is 29 percent more than in the same months of last year (15.77 billion Turkmen manats, or $4.5 billion).
The total volume of deposits attracted by banks in Turkmenistan in the national currency in 2022 amounted to 872.64 billion Turkmen manat ($249.31 billion), with an average interest rate of 0.31 percent.
Meanwhile, according to the Central Bank of Turkmenistan, the official exchange rate of the Turkmen manat against the US dollar on September 13, 2023, is set at 3.5 manat per USD.
