( Mobile ) - We've seen a wide range of speaker docks designed for the iPod and iPhone, but this latest creation from DLO really has to take the cake. Or maybe it's more appropriate to say that it takes the omelette. While in its portable closed position, the DLO Portable Speaker for iPhone (quite a descriptive product name, no?) looks almost like a black egg.
On the other hand, certain purists may draw comparisons to Pokemon, because the DLO also has the look of an unopened Pokeball. Unfortunately for the kiddies in the audience, there's no Pikachu, Charizard, or Bulbasaur to found within. Instead, the DLO Portable Speaker for iPhone opens up to reveal a pair of round stereo speakers and a dock for Apple's multitouch cell phone. Strangely, the audio seems to be fed via a 3.5mm audio cable rather than through the dock on the bottom.
The site does make mention of the ability to use the product as a speakerphone, but I think it just makes use of the pre-existing mic on the iPhone rather than providing one of its own. Hey, at least it's got a stand to prop up the phone and it's shielded from GSM buzz. Peep it for $49.
