More than 605,000 shipments weighing over 81,200 kilograms were processed and sent to 15 countries in the transit center of Azerpocht LLC Company in the 1Q2018, the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies of Azerbaijan told Trend April 27.
The postal operator delivered them to the USA, Germany, Austria, Belarus, the UK, the Czech Republic, France, Iran, Israel, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Russia, Turkey and Ukraine.
"The advantageous geostrategic position of Azerbaijan, the formation of regional and international transport corridors in the country and the transformation of the country into a major transit and logistics center creates new opportunities for the country in the postal delivery of e-commerce products. Azerbaijani postal service has played the role of a regional transit postal center (HUB) in the field of e-commerce for two years," the Ministry said.
The postal items delivered to the country were ordered on the electronic trading platforms of China. Azerpocht Company deals with their processing and sending to other countries. To this end, Azerpoct cooperates with Silk Way Company, which has extensive capabilities in the field of air transportation. The vast majority of incoming mail was forwarded to Israel, Russia, Italy, Germany, the USA and France.
Currently, Azerpocht Company is negotiating with the postal express services of China, South Korea and Singapore to organize the transit through Azerbaijan of the large-size goods purchased at electronic trading platforms.
