Baku, Azerbaijan, Nov. 8

Trend:

Azerpost LLC may launch postal money transfers to Iran via the STEFI system of the Universal Postal Union (UPU), a source in Azerbaijani postal market told Trend.

The source noted that the Iranian side is interested in joining STEFI, however, sanctions against Iran could be a deterrent in this matter.

"Iran has recently received the STEFI member status. If sanctions against Iran do not create obstacles in this matter, we may be able to arrange postal money transfers to that country in 1H2019," the source said.

Presently, Azerpost offers money transfer services through STEFI to Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova, Russia, Lithuania and Kazakhstan. It is also envisaged to launch postal money transfers to Latvia, Estonia, Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan.
