By Fakhri Vakilov - Trend:

Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) intends to open a business incubator in Uzbekistan, Trend reports citing Uzbek media.

KOICA representatives are interested in strengthening business contacts with the IT park venture fund, IT academy, IT laboratory and data center to expand opportunities for cooperation and implementation of joint ICT projects.

On the basis of a business incubator, novice entrepreneurs will be able to get support at all stages: from developing an idea to its commercialization.

Seminars and trainings in it will be held by Korean experts. Moreover, an online platform will be launched where young businessmen will be able to find useful information for them, gain new knowledge and learn about incubation and acceleration programs of all organizations.

To ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of the grant aid programs that used to be carried out by multiple government ministries, the Korean government in April 1991 established KOICA under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as a unified grant provider.

Through the sharing of Korean’s development experiences and know-how with its partner countries, KOICA aims to fight global poverty and support sustainable socio-economic development in developing countries while at the same time strengthening Korea’s friendly relations with them.

Setting health, education, governance, agriculture and rural development and technology, environment and energy as priority sectors, KOICA delivers grant-based programs through its development projects, Development Experience Exchange Program (DEEP), international volunteer and fellowship programs, emergency relief provision, multilateral cooperation, etc.

Between 1991 and 2016, KOICA disbursed a total of about $5, 4 billion in 159 countries. At present KOICA operates 44 country offices around the globe.
