The Center for the Development of Electronic Government of Azerbaijan developed projects of both the state level and projects of the ‘government to business’ (G2B) and ‘government to citizen’ (G2C) segment due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.

The center developed ‘SMS Permission System’ and the icaze.e-gov.az website during COVID-19 pandemic.

The center has also developed the Cimerlik.az project, allowing to manage the country's water resources, through which citizens can register to visit the beaches.

A unified system of the register of Azerbaijani citizens’ property, destroyed by Armenian military formations, has also been developed.

A growth in the number of digital services offered by the state agencies and the Central Bank of Azerbaijan is observed in Azerbaijan, PASHA Bank said during the outgoing week.

Investments in applying IT technologies in Azerbaijan’s banking sector grew and PASHA Bank contributed to this to a certain degree itself.

All this gives the opportunity to increase the number of services with a corresponding increase in the number of requests.

Adding elements of artificial intelligence and machine learning (machine learning), which help in decision-making, will open up completely new opportunities for both banks and their clients.

Traditional banking is passing through a transition period in bank-client relations, the Azerbaijan Banks Association (ABA) said during the outgoing week.

This transition is characterized by the formation of digital bank-client relations, the expansion of products and services, the introduction of the latest innovations in the field of information technologies.

A number of business entities began to carry out non-cash payments based on card-to-card transactions, rather than through POS terminals amid this development, for various reasons, including the availability of mobile banking services.

An important event of the outgoing week was the expansion of the segment of products on insurance against cyber attacks.

In the context of digitalization, a particular sector can become a target for cybercriminals, and insurance companies are not an exception.

Some countries are introducing compulsory cyber risk insurance for companies in certain activities.

Currently, the ‘Cyber Insurance’ policy in Azerbaijan is provided by Ateshgah Insurance Company.
