Payment solutions Google Pay, Samsung Pay and PayPal payment system may be launched in Azerbaijan in 2022, the head of the IT department of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) Anar Guliyev told Trend.
According to Guliyev, the appearance of the Apple Pay payment solution on the Azerbaijani market will help accelerate the introduction of a similar solution from Google and Samsung in the country.
"The Central Bank has already sent relevant inquiries to these companies, and they are assessing these processes in Azerbaijan. I think that next year we will be able to meet these decisions in the local market," he said.
The head of the department also noted that the CBA is in parallel negotiating with the international payment system PayPal.
It is noted that in November 2021, with the support of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan, some banks in the country launched a contactless payment solution Apple Pay on iOS devices and Apple Watch.
