New Network Academy Cisco Opened in Baku

An opening of the network academy Cisco has been held at the Baku State University (BSU). The centre was established within the regional network academy Cisco through AzNET project (Access to Internet and of Educational and Civil Infrastructure Development Research), Trend reports.

AzNET is an international project under the partnership of Azerbaijan`s Government Telecommunication and IT Ministry, UNDP, Soros Foundation, and AzRENA (Azerbaijan of Research and Educational Networks Association).

Ramin Makhmoudzadeh is the Head of the local academy. Eight local network academies have already been established within the project. The last, tenth one is expected to be opened in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan till the end of the year.

Ali Abbasov, Telecommunication and IT Minister, Abel Maharramov, rector of BSU, as well as representatives of the education sphere, NGOs, and private sector of the country took part at the opening ceremony.

Rovshan Akparov, Regional Manager of Cisco academy programs presented the program. According to him, up to date, there are more than 11.000 network academies of Cisco in 150 countries, and more than 1.6 m. students have passed training courses.
