Volume of loaded, unloaded cargo in Iranian ports increases

From the beginning of this Iranian year (March 21, 2019) up till now (Feb. 12, 2020), the volume of loaded and unloaded cargo at Iranian ports has increased by 6.8 percent compared to the same period of last Iranian year, Trend reports referring to Iran’s Ports and Maritime Organization.

Some 131.7 million tons of cargo have been loaded and unloaded at Iranian ports during the reporting period. During the same period of last Iranian year, this figure was 123.4 million tons, according to the report.

The cargoes were loaded and unloaded at Iranian ports in Abadan, Astara, Imam Khomeini, Amirabad, Anzali, Bushehr, Jask, Chabahar, Khorramshahr, Shahid Bahonar, Shahid Rajaee, Fereydunkenar, Qeshm, Ganaveh, Lengeh, Neka and Bushehr.

During the reporting period, 40.7 million tons of oil were loaded and unloaded. This is an increase of 4.1 percent compared to the same period of last Iranian year (39.1 million tons).

The volume of twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU) container shipments amounted to 1.6 million tons during the reporting period. This is a decrease by 15.2 percent compared to the same period of last Iranian year (1.9 million tons).

The volume of other container shipments was 19.6 million tons, which is 5.4 percent less than in the same period of last Iranian year (20.7 million tons).

The general cargo volume was 17.8 million tons. This is an increase by 5.8 percent compared to the same period of last Iranian year (16.9 million tons). Dry bulk cargo volume was 49.1 million tons. This is an increase of 16.3 percent compared to the same period of last Iranian year (42.2 million tons). Liquid bulk cargo was 4.5 million tons. This is 0.2 percent less than in the same period of last Iranian year (4.5 million tons).
