Kazakhstan’s Qazaq Air resuming flights to Shymkent, launching new ones

Kazakhstan’s Qazaq Air regional airline company is resuming flights to country’s Shymkent city, and launching new ones to Taraz city, Trend reports with reference to the company.

Thus, the company said that regular flights to Shymkent city are to be resumed on May 17, 2020. The flights will be implemented on the Nur-Sultan – Shymkent - Nur-Sultan route.

The flights on the Almaty – Shymkent – Almaty route will be launched on May 18, 2020.

Additionally, the company also said that it is to resume Nur-Sultan – Almaty – Nur-Sultan flights on May 18, 2020.

The flights on the Nur-Sultan – Taraz - Nur-Sultan route will be launched on May 20, 2020.

The company added that the work on resuming flights to other cities of Kazakhstan is currently underway.

Earlier this month Qazaq Air already announced that its resuming regular flights from Nur-Sultan to country's Kostanay, Aktobe, Taldykorgan and Pavlodar cities.

In order to prevent coronavirus spreading in Kazakhstan, the number of flights was reduced by 438 flights per week on international destinations on 97 routes, which makes up 99 percent of all international flights implemented.

Additionally, all domestic flights have been cancelled and currently no regular air services operate in the country.

The first two cases of coronavirus infection were detected in Kazakhstan among those who arrived in Almaty city from Germany on March 13, 2020.

The total number of coronavirus cases confirmed in Kazakhstan since the virus was first confirmed in the country amounted to 5,417 cases. This includes 2,223 people who recovered from the coronavirus, and 32 patients who passed away.
