The Permanent Secretariat of Intergovernmental Commission TRACECA is developing a number of digital projects that simplify the paperwork at all checkpoints.
During the outgoing week TRACECA (Transport Corridor Europe-Caucasus-Asia) plans to develop and launch a pilot project of an e-queue system at border points (customs), which will prevent the congestion of trucks in the future, Rufat Bayramov, Permanent Representative (National Secretary) of the Permanent Secretariat of Intergovernmental Commission TRACECA, said.
“The availability of such an e-system will allow freight carriers to receive information in advance and take a queue for drivers,” Bayramov said.
Bayramov stressed that Azerbaijan is located at the intersection of a number of modal infrastructures. Such an added value in the form of the availability of digital service increases the attractiveness of the route on all sections of the transport corridor by several times.
During the outgoing week the World Bank (WB) approved issuing of a loan in the amount of $65 million for the project of developing roads in Azerbaijan.
Some 62.4 million tons of cargo were transported by all types of transport in Azerbaijan from January through April 2021, which is by 6.2 percent less than in the same period of last year.
Some 355.8 million people were transported, which is by 30.2 percent less than from January through April 2020.
