Some 11,048 TEU containers were transported along the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) railway corridor in the first half of 2021, which is by 5.6 percent less than last year, the subsidiary of Azerbaijan Railways CJSC - ADY Container LLC told Trend on July 12.
According to the source, the figures for the first half of the year are close to the total number of containers transported during 2020 (11,748 TEU).
Some 369 imported and 397 exported containers have been transported via BTK to the destination station while 10,318 containers have been transited since the beginning of the year.
"The containers mainly carried non-ferrous metals and chemicals, equipment, grain and cereals, textiles, animal feed, as well as construction materials," the message said.
"Cargoes were transported along the Kazakhstan - Turkey route (in the forward direction – 3,206 containers while in the opposite direction - 552 TEU)," the message said. "Some 2,915 containers were transported from China to Turkey while 912 containers and 747 containers from Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, respectively."
Some 33,267 containers have been transported via BTK since its commissioning, of which 81 percent of cargo or 26,828 TEU accounted for transit cargo transportation.
