Over 2.8 million tons of cargo were transported via sea in Azerbaijan from January through June 2021, which is by 7.9 percent less than in the same period of last year, Trend reports citing the Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee on July 15.
At the same time, 2.2 million tons of cargo were transited via sea or 96.4 percent of all cargo transportation volume (3.8 million tons).
Some 6,300 passengers were transported via sea from January through June 2021, which is 27.6 percent less compared to the same period of last year.
Some 38.8 percent of Azerbaijan's cargo exported via sea accounted for oil.
As of July 1, 117,400 tons of cargo remained in the ports.
Some 92.2 million tons accounted for cargo transportation by all types of transport in Azerbaijan from January through June 2021, of which three percent accounted for the share of ships.
