Kazakhstan reports decrease in cargo transport volumes country-wide

A total of 348.1 million tons of cargo was transported in Kazakhstan by all means of transport in July 2021, which is 2.8 percent less than in July 2020, Trend reports with reference to Kazakhstan’s Statistics Committee.

In turn, the volume of cargo transported over the first seven months of 2021 amounted to 2.05 billion tons, which is 3.2 percent less year-on-year compared to 2.1 billion tons over the same period of last year.

Thus, the majority of the cargo was transported in Kazakhstan’s Karaganda region. The volume of cargo transported in the region amounted to 66.6 million tons in July and 376.3 million tons over the reporting period of 2021, which is 6.1 percent less and 3.1 percent more than during the same period last year, respectively.

Karaganda region is followed by the East Kazakhstan region with 52.3 million tons transported in July 2021 (down by 4.8 percent compared to July 2020). The volume of cargo transported in the region during the reporting period amounted to 325.6 million tons, which compared to 342.08 million during the same period last year, indicates a 14.9-percent decrease.

Kostanay region takes third place country-wide by the cargo transported in July 2021 (28.2 million tons, down by 9.8 percent). The volume of cargo transported in the city over seven months of 2021 amounted to 153.02 million tons, which is 4.6 percent less than during the same period last year (160.4 million tons).

The least cargo volume was transported in the West Kazakhstan region. The transported cargo volume stood at 4.8 million tons of cargo in July 2021, which is 11.4 percent less than in July 2020. The volume of cargo transported from January through July 2021 was 29.02 million tons, which is 18.1 percent less year-on-year.
