BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 11. This week, it was reported about the growth of international transit cargo in Absheron Logistics Center since the beginning of 2022, Trend reports.

It has been reported that logistics center works at the capacity of 30 percent or about three million tons, and the company's annual capacity reaches about 10 million tons. Absheron Logistics Center proceeds with transit cargo movement through the territory of Azerbaijan along the following routes: Turkiye–Central Asian countries, Turkiye–Russia, Russia–Turkiye. Negotiations on identifying new appropriate routes for cargo traffic are underway.

Moreover, Azerbaijan’s Sara Logistics company for the first time began to transit goods to India, Pakistan and Dubai (UAE). The company continues increasing the goods from China, which will be transported through Azerbaijan to the EU countries.

In addition, more than half of the freight movement between Turkiye and the Central Asian countries could be carried out through the Zangazur corridor. The launch of the corridor will allow boosting cargo transportation from the southern ports of Iraq, Syria and the Mediterranean Sea in transit through Turkiye. Currently, the average annual turnover between Turkiye and the countries of Central Asia is 110,000-120,000 trucks.

Meanwhile, it was noted that Azerbaijan has become a strategic country in the framework of creating new transit transport routes. IRU and the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization intend to enhance collaboration with the Azerbaijan International Road Carriers Association to organize safe transportation of cargo.
