BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 6. Cargo transit through the customs of Iran’s Sistan and Baluchestan Province in the south-east of the country, increased by 8 percent for the first month of the current Iranian year (March 21 through April 20, 2023), compared to the same month in the last year, Supervisor of Sistan and Baluchestan Province Customs Office, Mohammad Ali Khashi told Tasnim News Agency, Trend reports.
According to him, approximately 73,900 tons of cargo were transited through the province’s customs in the 1st month.
Khashi said that the transited products were mainly potato, mandarin, sesame, rice, sulfur and etc.
The official noted that the cargo was transited to Pakistan, Afghanistan, Czech Republic and Iraq within the mentioned month.
Overall, more than 12.9 million tons of cargo were transited through Iran over the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023), which is an increase of 2.2 percent compared to the same period in the preceding Iranian year.
