Czech tennis player Radek Stepanek will decide Friday if he will play in the opening round of the Davis Cup against Kazakhstan after pulling out of a tournament due to illness, AFP reported.
Stepanek told the CTK news agency on Wednesday that he wouldn't be able to play in the best-of-five series on March 4-6 in Ostrava after withdrawing from this week's Delray Beach International Tennis Championships due to the flu.
But Czech team spokesman Karel Tejkal says Stepanek has two more days to make a final decision.
Stepanek has been expected to play singles and doubles, along with seventh-ranked Tomas Berdych.
On Tuesday, teammate Jan Hajek abandoned a match after feeling sick. Tejkal says the player will tell captain Jaroslav Navratil if he is ready to play.
