Russian President Dmitry Medvedev sent a congratulatory message to Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev today.

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev sent a congratulatory message to Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev today. The Presidents also had a phone conversation, Kazinform reported referring to Kremlin official website.

"Your political experience, dynamical and fruitful activity on the post of Head of State allowed to reach impressive success in socio-economic development of modern Kazakhstan, high authority of the country in international arena", President Medvedev says in his message.

Kazakhstan is celebrating Astana Day and the President's 71st birthday today. Festivities dedicated to these events are held allover the country.

Medevedev underlined Nazarbayev's contribution to deepening strategic partnership between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Kazakhstan.

"I highly appreciate our warm relations, which are a reliable basis for confident, constructive discussion and taking decisions on the most important issues of bilateral and international agenda", the message says.

Nazarbayev is the first and incumbent President of Kazakhstan, the biggest Central Asian country with a population of 16.4 million. He has been in power since the nation received its independence in 1991.

Medevedev expressed his confidence that an intensive and fruitful dialogue will further play a key role in development of the whole complex of the Russian-Kazakh relations, implementation of projects in the fields representing mutual interest.

"Your reputation of a supporter of strengthening integration processes on the Eurasian space is of honored recognition", he said. "An idea of the Customs Union establishment and the Single Economic Space formation were successfully realized thanks to your efforts."
