Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych will pay his first state visit to Kazakhstan in 2014. This was announced at a meeting of the Kazakh Foreign Minister Erlan Idrisov with his Ukrainian counterpart and OSCE Chairman Leonid Kozhara in Astana, Kazinform reported.

"We as the Foreign Ministries agreed to focus our efforts on the preparation of the first state visit of President Yanukovych to Kazakhstan next year. In the first instanced we agreed that the first half of the year would be the most appropriate time for the visit," Idrisov said at a meeting in Astana.

A business forum is planned to be held with participation of business circles of the two countries within the state visit of the Ukrainian President to Kazakhstan.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Leonid Kozhara is currently on a three-day visit to Astana.
According to the Kazakh Foreign Ministry, during the visit, Idrisov and Kozhara discussed issues of bilateral cooperation including various aspects of political, economic and trade relations, cooperation within international organisations and integration associations and urgent international issues.

The parties also discussed the activities of the two countries within OSCE including preparations for the annual meeting of OSCE foreign ministers scheduled for December 5-6 in Kiev.
