Kazakhstan plans to implement over 30 investment projects in mining and metallurgical sphere in 2015-2017, Novosti-Kazakhstan reported on Dec. 2.

The plan was put forward in the welcome letter of Kazakh Vice-Minister for Investment and Development Yerzhan Sagadiev to the participants of the 2nd Annual CIS Sustainable Mining Forum in Astana.

"It is planned to implement 31 investment projects worth 1.3 trillion tenge (180.87 tenge = $1) in mining and metallurgical area until 2018," the letter said.

The implementation of the second five-year stage of the state program of forced industrial-innovative development for 2015-2019 will allow increasing growth of output in this sector by 43 percent by 2019, according to the vice-minister. The productivity will be increased by 1.4 times in this period.

The forum participants were informed that Kazakhstan soil contains 99 of 105 existing elements of the periodic table. The country explored reserves of 70 elements, over 60 elements are in production. Kazakhstan ranks 13th among the world's largest solid minerals producers. The share of mining and metallurgical complex in the country's GDP hits about 12 percent.
