BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 23. Kazakhstan’s “Mobile telecom service” ("Tele2" and "Altel" brands) and Kcell JSC ("Kcell" and "activ" brands) mobile operators' consortium won the auction for 3600-3700 MHz and 3700-3800 MHz radio frequency waves, Trend reports, citing the Central Communications Service under the President.
The total price of the deal is around 156.6 billion Kazakh tenge ($336.9 million).
Two other companies, including KaR-Tel LLP (Beeline KZ brand) and MTSK, participated in a tightly contested bidding war. Their final offers were around 1 billion Kazakh tenge ($2.1 million) less.
It is expected that the conclusion of the auction will further strengthen the positions of “Mobile telecom service” and Kcell, which are subsidiaries of JSC Kazakhtelecom.
