BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 11. The volume of crude oil production at Kazakhstan's Tengiz field amounted to 7.35 million tons (58.6 billion barrels) in the first quarter of 2023, Trend reports via the Tengizchevroil company.
In the reporting period, Tengizchevroil sold more than 307,000 tons of liquefied gas, 288 million cubic meters of dry gas, as well as more than 733,000 tons of sulfur.
The Tengiz oil field was discovered in 1979 and is one of the biggest and deepest oil fields in the world. The total explored reserves of Tengiz reach 3.2 billion tons, while recoverable reserves range from 890 million tons to 1.37 billion tons.
Tengizchevroil LLP was formed on April 6, 1993, on the basis of an agreement between the Republic of Kazakhstan and Chevron. Currently, Tengizchevroil's partners are as follows: Chevron - 50 percent, KazMunayGas - 20 percent, ExxonMobil Kazakhstan Ventures Inc. - 25 percent and Lukoil - 5 percent.
Kazakhstan produced 84.2 million tons of oil in 2022. The share of theTengiz oil field accounted for 29.2 percent, some 12.7 million tons were produced at the Kashagan oil field, while 11.3 million tons of oil were extracted from the Karachaganak oil field.
