Kazakhstan expands railway cargo exports to China

ASTANA, Kazakhstan, July 24. Kazakhstan's exports to China totaled 8.3 million tons of various cargo in the first half of this year, which is 37 percent more compared to the same period of the previous year, Trend reports.

According to Kazakhstan Railways (Kazakhstan Temir Zholy, KTZ), during the reporting period, there was a threefold increase in grain exports, reaching 1 million tons, and a 15 percent rise in metal ore exports, totaling 4 million tons, including 2.6 million tons of iron ore—a 25 percent boost compared to the same period last year.

Furthermore, the export of non-ferrous metals increased by 55 percent, totaling 220,000 tons. Additionally, the export of vegetable oils saw a substantial growth rate of 70 percent, reaching 75,000 tons.

Simultaneously, Kazakhstan's imports from China rose by 13 percent during the same period, accounting for a total of 5.4 million tons. Among the notable imported goods were a 13 percent increase in passenger cars, a 30 percent rise in construction materials, and a 5 percent increase in chemical products.

The seamless collaboration between the teams of cross-border stations in both countries has contributed to the impressive growth in railway cargo transportation, totaling 13.7 million tons, a significant 26 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
