ASTANA, Kazakhstan, September 12. Twenty three renewable energy projects with a total capacity of 228.6 MW have been implemented in the Turkestan region of Kazakhstan, Trend reports.
This was stated during a weekly meeting of the apparatus chaired by the head of the regional executive power Darkhan Satybaldy.
By October, construction work will be completed in the settlement of Shaulder, Otyrar district, and the Shaulder solar power plant with a capacity of 50 MW will be put into operation.
Of the 833 settlements in the region, 814 are connected to the centralized electrical network, the remaining 19 settlements use electricity from independent installations.
As of January 1, 2023, out of 833 settlements (2,119,063 inhabitants), 465 settlements (55.9 percent), or 1,537,588 residents (72.6 percent), were provided with natural gas.
At the end of 2022, there are 130 renewable energy facilities operating in Kazakhstan with an installed capacity of 2,400 MW. The volume of renewable energy production amounted to 5.11 billion kWh or 4.53 percent of the total volume of electrical energy production. In 2023, this figure should reach 5 percent.
Last year, 12 renewable energy facilities were commissioned with a total capacity of 385 MW with a total investment of 180 billion tenge (about $389.4 million). In 2023, 15 facilities with a total capacity of 276 MW will be commissioned.
