ASTANA, Kazakhstan, January 17. The share of e-commerce in Kazakhstan reached over 2.2 trillion tenge (about $4.8 billion) or 13 percent of retail sales from January through November 2023, said the Minister of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan Arman Shakkaliyev at a government meeting, Trend reports.

In 2022, the volume of e-commerce was 12.5 percent, which is slightly more than 1.9 billion tenge (about $4.2 billion).

Kazakhstanis' frequently obtained main goods on online platforms were household goods, clothing and footwear, food, cosmetics, and medicines.

At the same time, the market for e-trade in services at the end of 2022 amounted to almost 1.2 billion tenge (about $2.6 million), of which 50.3 percent or 596.8 million tenge (about $1.3 million) came from passenger transportation services.

Shakkaliyev noted that the Ministry of Trade and Integration intends to increase the share of e-commerce to 20 percent by 2030. In this regard, the Action Plan for the development of electronic commerce until 2025 was approved.

In addition, to ensure the protection of consumer rights in the field of e-commerce, amendments have been developed, which, within the framework of the Bill on the Protection of Consumer Rights, and are being considered in the Majilis of the parliament of the country.
