Today Department of Information Policy under Governmental Administration of the Kyrgyz Republic reported about Chu bank protection, 24.kg reported.

The report of the department says that the issue on erosion processes at the left bank of Chu river has been discussed since 1996. Part of Kyrgyz territory passed to Republic of Kazakhstan as the result of the erosion. "Currently, Kyrgyz - Kazakh disputed border at Chu river has not been solved yet. According to results of left bank research, 29 sections pose a threat to Kant - Tokmot - Kemin bypass road, farmlands in Milyanfan areas, villages Nizhne - Chuisk and Vasilievka," says the message.

It is reported that for the last few years Ministry of Emergency Situation provides bank protection at Chu river to secure settlements and the territory. Thus, accident recovery works were provided in Octyaborsky, Alamudun regions. Cost of the provided works totaled KGS 2.097 million. Works were also provided at the left bank of Chu river at the territory of Vanakhuna JC, cost totaled KGS 365.1 thousand, Dzhany-Alysh of Kemin region - KGS 2.682 million.

Cemetery protection works were carried out in the same village to prevent river undercutting; the work has cost KGS 1.962 million. In addition, there were provided roads protection works in the area of Kant cement plant (KGS 2.166 million) to prevent breakout of wastewater of collection-ponds near Bishkek - Almaty bridge. Works cost totaled KGS 1.004 million.

"During the period of years 2005-2008 Ministry of Transport and Communication implemented the project on Chu left bank and Kant - Tokmot - Kemin road protection. In accordance with governmental regulation as of April 23, 2004 About the Measures for Prevention and Disaster Clean-up
Operations, protection of this sector to be provided by Ministry of Transport and Communication of the Kyrgyz Republic," said the message of the Department of Information Policy under governmental administration.
