BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 25. Kyrgyzstan imported 54,880 tons of iron ores and concentrates in 2022, which is an increase of 3 percent from 52,836 tons in 2021, Trend reports via the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan.
In the reporting period, the value of Kyrgyz iron ores and concentrates imports amounted to $2.1 million over $1.8 million in 2021.
Almost an entire amount of this type of imports falls into Kazakhstan, with only two tons of iron ores and concentrate imported from Russia.
Additionally, Kyrgyzstan imported 389 tons of precious metals ores and concentrate from Kazakhstan worth $87,000, which is an increase of more than 4 times, compared to 2021 (92 tons for $40,800), and 4.5 tons of rare metals ores and concentrate worth $3,700. Kyrgyzstan did not import any rare metals ores in 2021.
Meanwhile, the country also imported some 47 tons of other ores and concentrate worth $38,300 from Uzbekistan. There is no data for any imports for 2021.
At the same time, in the reporting period, Kyrgyzstan exported 105,689 tons of precious metals ores and concentrates worth $133.8 million. The figure decreased by almost 40 percent compared to $156.5 million in 2021, while some 174,164 tons of precious metals ores and concentrates were exported.
The main countries that bought precious metals ores and concentrates from Kyrgyzstan in 2022 were Kazakhstan and China. They imported 86,894 tons for $101 million, and 18,791 tons for $31 million respectively.
