Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and his Uzbek counterpart Islam Karimov discussed the aspects of cooperation on Oct.24, a source close to the negotiations told Trend.
Islam Karimov arrived in Ashgabat with an official visit on Oct.23.
The sides discussed the prospects for cooperation and named fuel and energy, industry, agriculture and transport sectors as the promising areas of cooperation.
This meeting of presidents of two neighboring countries is of great importance, since both Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan intend to intensify their partnership relations in all spheres, according to Turkmen Dovlet khabarlary (TDH) state news service.
Joint projects, such as the construction of Turkmenistan-China transnational gas pipeline, which also runs through the territory of Uzbekistan is proof of this.
The two countries have great opportunities for bilateral cooperation in the transport sphere.
Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan discuss the creation of Central-Asia - Middle East transport and transit corridor. With this regard, the two countries signed an agreement to create an international transport and transit corridor in April 2011.
