Central Election Commission of Turkmenistan updates number of observers at upcoming presidential elections

The Central Commission for Elections and Referendums of Turkmenistan has already registered 2,726 national observers on the upcoming presidential elections, which will be held on March 12, 2022, Trend reports, citing the Commission.

Some 544 national observers were registered from the Democratic Party of Turkmenistan, 355 - from the Party of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, 390 - from the Agrarian Party, 520 - from trade unions of Turkmenistan, 290 - from the Union of Women of Turkmenistan, 525 - from the Makhtumkuli Youth Organization of Turkmenistan, 84 - from groups of citizens, and 18 observers from candidates.

According to the Commission, 47.76 percent of the national observers are women.

The national observers monitor compliance with the law of the election campaign. The observer mission of the Commonwealth of Independent States continues to monitor the election campaign.

Since the beginning of the presidential election campaign on February 14, 2022, the Central Election Commission of Turkmenistan has registered nine presidential candidates.
