Afghan DABS starts construction work to increase electricity supplies from Turkmenistan

ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, September 7. The Afghan Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS) energy company has officially started construction of the Noor Al-Jihad Substation in Herat province to increase electricity imports from Turkmenistan, Trend reports.

According to an official source, the Ministry of Energy and Water of Afghanistan is managing the project in cooperation with the Government of Turkmenistan.

Furthermore, the estimated cost of the project is $3.5 million and is funded by the Ministry of Afghanistan.

After the completion of the project, the transmission capacity will increase from 70 to 110 megawatts, and a new step-up transformer will help eliminate the shortage of electricity in the province.

Meanwhile, last month a meeting of representatives of Turkmenistan's Turkmenenergo State Electric Power Corporation and the company DABS was held, at which the project of expanding the electricity supply of the Noor Al-Jihad Substation was discussed. Following the negotiations, the parties reached a conditional agreement on various aspects of the project.
