Turkmenistan's Lebap enterprises increase manufacturing of industrial products

ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, September 15. Industrial enterprises in the Lebap region located in the east of Turkmenistan produced products worth more than 13 billion Turkmen manat ($3.72 billion) from January through July this year, Trend reports.

Industrial production of energy, textiles, raw silk, bread and bakery products, dairy products and other types increased in the reporting period compared to the first seven months of the previous year.

At the same time, state-owned enterprises in the region produced these products worth more than 3.7 billion Turkmen manat ($1.06 billion).

The volume of industrial products sent to consumers by industrial enterprises (including waste products at the beginning of the year) amounted to 3.64 billion Turkmen manat ($2.04 billion), while 71.4 percent of the total volume of these products was exported.

Industry is vital in Turkmenistan's economy, and there has been tremendous growth in this sector in recent years. Turkmenistan's government is aggressively pursuing a program aimed at boosting industrial investment and providing a favorable economic climate.
