Uzbek President Issues Decree to Increase Salaries, Pensions, Scholarships and Social Allowances

Uzbekistan, Tashkent, 23 October / Trend , corr. T.Jukov /Under the President decree, the minimum size of salaries will comprise 28,140 sums per month (over $20) and pensions -55,550 sums per month 9over $40) since 16 November.

This has become the third increase of salaries and pensions of 2008. Since 1 April 2008, under the President decree the minimum size of salaries was set on 20, 865 sums per month (about $16) and minimum pensions 41, 330 sums per month (about $32). Since 1 September, the minimum salaries were raised to 25,040 sums per month (about $18) and pensions - 49, 600 sum per month (about $38).

The Uzbek Labour and Social Protection Ministry reported to Trend that the size of salaries and pensions were increase in average 12%. The allowances to old and disabled citizens are set in the size of 33, 645 sums per month (over $25). Before, the sum made up 30, 040 sums per month (about $22).

"The expenditure caused by increased salaries of employees in state budget departments and organizations, pensions, allowances and scholarships to pay off at the expense of state budget and non-budget pension fund attached to the Finance Ministry," is stated in the decree paper.
