BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 1. Uzbekistan exported some 3,300 tons of tomatoes worth $3.2 million in January 2023, which is a decrease of 8 percent, compared to the same period in 2022, Trend reports via State Statistics Committee.

Uzbekistan overall exported 67,500 tons of fruit and vegetables worth $58,400 million during the first month of this year. This figure decreased by 11.3 tons, compared to the same period in 2022 (78,600 tons).

In January 2023, Uzbekistan exported some 8,800 tons of cabbage, 7,700 tons of fresh grapes, 7,500 tons of dried grapes, 6,300 tons of mug beans, 3,200 tons of pomegranate, 2,200 tons of prunes, and 900 tons of peanut.

The main importers of Uzbek fruits and vegetables were Kazakhstan (23,500 tons), Russia (15,300 tons), China (7,400 tons), Kyrgyzstan (5,500 tons), Pakistan (4,800 tons), Afghanistan (2,600 tons), Türkiye (1,400 tons), Belarus (800 tons), and Iran (700 tons).

Meanwhile, in January 2023, Uzbekistan’s trade turnover amounted to $5.04 billion, increasing by 42 percent, compared to the first month of 2022 ($3.5 billion). Export from Uzbekistan in January 2023 amounted to about $2.08 billion, while imports to Uzbekistan - were $2.9 billion.
